Monday night Catalan derby set for Montilivi as LaLiga confirms Matchday 24 schedule
Barcelona's trip to Girona headlines the fixtures for mid-February, with Real Madrid and Atlético both in Saturday action ahead of Champions League commitments.
LaLiga has dropped the fixture schedule for Matchday 24, with the Catalan derby between Girona and Barcelona closing out the weekend on Monday, February 16th at 21:00 local time.
Ter Stegen to miss out against parent club
One notable absentee from the Monday night clash will be Marc-André ter Stegen, who won’t be able to face his parent club due to the ‘fear clause’ Barcelona included in his loan deal to Girona. The German keeper will have to watch from the stands as his temporary teammates take on his permanent employers.
Champions League considerations
Both Madrid giants have been handed Saturday fixtures, with good reason too. Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid will be in action on February 14th as they need to keep their powder dry for the following midweek’s Champions League playoff first legs, scheduled for February 17-18.
