Yamal's killer instinct: Same goal tally in half the matches as Barca wonderkid finds lethal form

Barcelona's teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has already matched his LaLiga goal tally from last season in just 18 games, showing remarkable improvement in front of goal.

Barcelona’s teenage sensation is turning into a proper goal machine, proving his doubters wrong with a stunning scoring streak this season.

Double the danger

Lamine Yamal’s transformation into a clinical finisher has been nothing short of remarkable this term. The Rocafonda-born starlet has already matched his LaLiga goal tally from last season - but here’s the kicker - he’s done it in exactly half the number of games!

The numbers tell a proper story:

  • 2023-24 season: 9 goals in 35 LaLiga matches (0.25 goals per game)
  • Current season: 9 goals in just 18 LaLiga appearances (0.5 goals per game)

That’s some improvement for a lad who’s still just getting started in the game. His latest strike came at Martínez Valero against Elche, finishing off a sublime assist from Dani Olmo. And he wasn’t done there - the youngster also provided an assist of his own in the same match.

On a roll

Yamal is absolutely on fire right now, having scored in three consecutive matches across competitions:

  • vs Oviedo
  • vs Copenhagen (with an assist)
  • vs Elche (with an assist)

Interestingly, the young baller seems to prefer life on the road. Six of his nine league goals have come in away fixtures, with just three at the Spotify Camp Nou. Talk about taking your talents to town!

High praise

Manager Hansi Flick couldn’t hide his admiration after the Elche match, acknowledging that while he prefers to focus on the team as a whole, Yamal’s performance was a cut above.

Teammate Alejandro Balde went even further in his assessment: “People forget he’s only 18 years old and he’s already got us spoiled. He’s having an incredible season.”

For a player who managed just five goals in 37 LaLiga appearances in his debut season (2023-24), this rapid development shows Yamal is quickly becoming the real deal - and that should have defenders across Spain feeling proper nervous.
