Huesca's triple January swoop: New signings pledge Segunda survival fight

Seoane, Joaquín Fernández and Agbekpornu unveiled as Huesca's January reinforcements with all three committed to keeping the club in Spain's second tier.

Three new signings, one shared mission: keeping Huesca in the Segunda División. The struggling side has unveiled their January transfer window reinforcements, with each recruit expressing unwavering belief in the club’s survival prospects.

The returning hero

Jaime Seoane, already back in action against Cádiz where he received a warm welcome from the Alcoraz faithful, spoke confidently about the club’s prospects: “We’ve seen the path to follow and I’m absolutely convinced we’ll achieve our objective.”

For Seoane, the homecoming was a no-brainer. Huesca gave him his professional breakthrough, and now he’s back to repay that faith during their time of need.

“When the opportunity appeared, I knew this was the ideal place,” Seoane explained. “Huesca opened the doors to professional football for me, and now they’ve welcomed me back during a difficult moment.”

Experience at the back

Joaquín Fernández, another January addition, brings defensive stability to the squad. While not quite at full fitness, he expects to reach 100% in the coming days.

The defender outlined what he brings to the table:

  • Experience
  • Defensive security
  • Calmness in possession

Like his fellow newcomers, Fernández is laser-focused on the survival mission: “We have four months of work ahead. We’ve all come here to keep Huesca in professional football.”

The unknown quantity

Michael Agbekpornu might be the least familiar name among the trio, but the combative midfielder is eager to make his mark in Spanish football.

“I’m a very competitive player. I like to work for my teammates and fight for every ball,” the newcomer explained.

Interestingly, Agbekpornu revealed he’s had inside information about his new club from former Huesca player Samuel Obeng, his teammate in Ghana’s under-23 setup, who’s briefed him on both the league and the club.

Survival mission

With these three additions, Huesca have strengthened their squad for what promises to be a proper dogfight to maintain their Segunda División status. The new boys seem up for the scrap – now they’ll need to translate that confidence into points on the board.
