Sellés' Zaragoza revolution: New faces set for Eibar six-pointer
With injuries mounting and winter signings arriving, Real Zaragoza's lineup against Eibar this Saturday will feature significant changes in a crucial relegation battle.
Victor Sellés is set to ring the changes for Real Zaragoza’s crucial relegation scrap against Eibar this Saturday, with winter signings and injury returns forcing a major reshuffle of his pack.
Defensive shake-up
Between the sticks is the only settled position for Los Maños, but the backline is in for a proper overhaul. Juan Larios looks poised for his debut at left-back, with Martín Aguirregabiria holding down the right side.
In central defence, El Yamiq, who’s only just arrived in Zaragoza today, could go straight into the starting eleven. With Radovanovic back from injury and both Tachi and Insua available, Sellés has options at the heart of defence for the first time in ages.
Midfield crisis
The engine room is where Zaragoza are really feeling the pinch, with:
- Toni Moya (injured)
- Keidi Bare (injured)
- Raúl Guti (injured)
This injury crisis opens the door for new signing Mensah to make his bow, likely alongside either Akouokou or Saidu. On the flanks, Francho will take one wing while Valery is expected to occupy the other. Cumic looks set to start on the bench, with Rober González pushed forward into attack.
Forward conundrum
With Kenan Kodro unavailable, the striking berth is up for grabs. Mario Soberón appears to have recovered from his knock and could get the nod, though Sinan Bakis, Dani Gómez and Willy Agada are all in contention.
Agada, the Nigerian forward, is yet to make his debut and hasn’t even been officially presented to supporters. That’s set to change tomorrow when all six January signings will be unveiled alongside sporting director Txema Indias, who’ll offer his assessment of the transfer window.
Academy director departs
In other club news, Ramón Lozano has officially left his position as academy director. While he’d been away from active duties for some time, the club only made the announcement this afternoon, bringing the curtain down on nearly a decade in the role.
With so many changes on and off the pitch, Zaragoza fans will be hoping this fresh approach can deliver the three points in what’s a proper Bobby Moore (four-pointer) against Eibar in their battle to avoid the drop.
