Raphinha still training solo as Barça return to work

Brazilian winger continues his recovery away from the group, likely to miss Mallorca clash but Copa del Rey semifinal return remains the target

Barcelona’s Brazilian ace continues his rehabilitation separately from the first team, leaving Hansi Flick with a selection headache ahead of the weekend.

Training update

Barça returned to training on Thursday following a rest day granted by gaffer Hansi Flick. While most of the squad were back at it, there was one notable absentee - Raphinha continued working away from the main group as he recovers from the knock that kept him out of Tuesday’s victory against Albacete.

The situation doesn’t look particularly promising for the Brazilian’s availability this weekend, with all signs pointing toward him missing Saturday’s clash against Mallorca at the Camp Nou. The club’s medical staff seem to be taking the cautious approach, not wanting to rush their star man back before he’s ready.

Copa del Rey focus

Instead of pushing for a quick weekend return, the Catalan giants have their eyes on a bigger prize. The current recovery timeline suggests Raphinha is being prepared for Barcelona’s Copa del Rey semi-final first leg next week - a fixture that carries significantly more weight than the league match against Mallorca.

Barça will discover their semi-final opponents during Friday’s draw, which will also determine whether they’ll be at home or away for the first leg. The Brazilian’s creative spark could be crucial as they continue their cup campaign.

Youth involvement

Thursday’s session wasn’t without some fresh faces, as Barça Atlètic youngsters Emilio and Tommy were called up to train with the first team - giving Flick additional options to consider if Raphinha remains sidelined.

The squad will train again on Friday, after which Flick will face the media in his pre-match press conference, where he’ll likely provide further updates on Raphinha’s condition and availability.
