Racing's Striker Crisis Deepens as Manex Suffers Potential Serious Knee Injury
Racing Santander's forward line takes another hit with Manex Lozano leaving training in visible pain after a concerning knee twist during Friday's session.
Racing Santander’s absolute mare with striker injuries continues as Manex Lozano becomes the latest casualty in what’s turning into a proper hospital ward up front for the Cantabrians.
Knee Nightmare
Manex twisted his right knee during Friday’s training session and had to leave the pitch in obvious distress. The full extent of the damage remains unknown until he undergoes proper scans, but the early signs aren’t exactly promising.
Manager José Alberto didn’t sugarcoat the situation either, noting: “He was alone when it happened and felt his knee give way.” The gaffer’s tone suggested we might be looking at something more serious than just a knock.
Striker Emergency
This couldn’t have come at a worse time for Racing, who are already dealing with a proper striker shortage:
- Asier Villalibre remains in recovery from a muscle tear
- Arana is in the final stages of his rehabilitation but severely lacking match fitness
- José Alberto emphasized they need to ease Arana back gradually to avoid setbacks
The situation has left the Cantabrians seriously short of options up top. Talk about being caught short at the wrong time!
Monday Night Selection Headache
With their forward line decimated, Racing will likely turn to Georgian striker Guliashvili for Monday’s home fixture against Mirandés at El Sardinero. The Georgian already filled in up front during last Sunday’s match against Granada.
Unless there’s a rabbit pulled from the hat between now and Monday, Guliashvili looks set to lead the line as Racing try to navigate this injury crisis that’s giving their manager more headaches than a night on the Brahms and Liszt.
