Guerrero's son makes Getafe switch as Azulones snap up talented youngster

Julen Jon Guerrero, son of Athletic Club legend, joins Getafe's reserve team following stint at Arenteiro as the Madrid club looks to bolster their youth ranks.

Athletic Club legend’s son embarks on new chapter with Getafe’s reserve side as the Madrid club continues its youth development push.

Guerrero junior heads to Madrid

Getafe have officially announced the signing of Julen Jon Guerrero, who’ll be linking up with the club’s reserve team under the guidance of Manu del Moral. The talented youngster, son of Athletic Club icon Julen Guerrero, arrives after a spell at Arenteiro and looks set to strengthen the Azulones’ second string.

The timing’s rather interesting, as Getafe have just lost one of their brightest prospects, Sebas Salazar, who packed his bags for Villarreal B on deadline day. Talk about one door closing and another opening, eh?

Versatile attacking option

Julen Jon brings plenty of versatility to the table, capable of operating both as an attacking midfielder and further forward in more advanced positions. This flexibility should give Del Moral some useful options as the reserve side looks to push on this season.

Fans won’t have to wait long to catch a glimpse of the new boy in action either. He could make his debut as soon as this Sunday when Getafe’s reserves take on Quintanar del Rey at the Ciudad Deportiva Fernando Santos de la Parra.

Well-traveled youngster

Despite his tender years, Guerrero junior has already built up quite the CV in youth football. His development pathway has seen him spend time in some prestigious academies including:

  • Real Madrid
  • Alavés
  • Roma

He’s also had a stint at Amorebieta before his most recent move to Arenteiro, showing he’s not afraid to get around a bit in search of the right opportunity.

For Getafe, this represents another interesting addition to their youth ranks as they continue building for the future. The son of a Spanish football legend? That’s not a bad bit of business for the Madrid outfit.
