Lamine Yamal's Five-Star Form: Teenager on Historic Scoring Run
Barcelona's teenage sensation hits five consecutive scoring games across all competitions, showing he's fully recovered from early-season injury troubles.
Barcelona’s wonderkid has found his shooting boots and doesn’t look like taking them off any time soon.
Five on the bounce
Lamine Yamal is absolutely flying right now, having netted in five consecutive matches across all competitions - a proper milestone in his young but already dazzling career. The Rocafonda-born winger has been in the form of his life, finding the back of the onion bag in La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Champions League during this remarkable streak.
The scoring run began on January 25th against Oviedo with a lovely bicycle kick effort. He followed that up by:
- Scoring against Copenhagen in the Champions League
- Opening the scoring against Elche
- Netting in the Copa del Rey quarter-final win at Albacete
- Completing the five-star performance with a powerful strike from outside the box on Saturday
The crowd gave him a standing ovation when he was substituted in the 78th minute - proper recognition for a lad who’s quickly becoming the apple of Barcelona’s eye.
Managing minutes
Flick has been careful with his young star, explaining the substitution: “We have to manage his minutes. He’s enjoying himself, but in the first half he wasn’t at his best level. He saved his energy for the second half and I don’t criticize that.”
Smart management from the German gaffer there - no point running the youngster into the ground when he’s this valuable to the team’s prospects.
Double digits
Yamal’s latest strike means he’s now reached double figures in La Liga goals this season - ten in total and counting. That’s already surpassed his previous best of nine from last campaign, and we’re not even in March yet!
It’s clear the teenager has fully recovered from the pubic injury that troubled him between September and October. Barcelona fans will be hoping this purple patch continues as they fight on multiple fronts.
