Malaga secure Irish gem Ochoa with bumper contract until 2029
Teenage sensation Aaron Ochoa commits his future to Malaga CF with a new long-term deal featuring a significant release clause after impressing in Segunda División.
The Costa del Sol club continues its commitment to homegrown talent by tying down one of their brightest academy prospects to a long-term deal.
Contract Details
Malaga CF have officially announced that Aaron Ochoa has extended his contract until June 2029, adding two more seasons to his previous deal. The 18-year-old Irish talent will now remain with the Blanquiazules for three more campaigns.
Notably, Ochoa’s release clause has been significantly increased to match figures similar to that of another academy graduate, David Larrubia - a clear indication of how highly the club rates the youngster.
Rising Through the Ranks
Ochoa joined Malaga’s academy at just nine years old and has been rapidly progressing through the ranks thanks to his exceptional offensive talent. The teenager can operate effectively from wide positions or as an attacking midfielder behind the strikers.
His first-team debut came during the 2023/24 season when he was just 16, becoming part of the squad that secured that memorable promotion to Segunda División in Tarragona. Since then, he’s accumulated nearly forty official appearances between league and cup competitions.
Recent Impact
The timing of this renewal isn’t coincidental. It comes after Ochoa delivered a standout performance in the second half against Cultural Leonesa at La Rosaleda, where he demonstrated his quality despite still being eligible for youth competitions.
This season has seen the Irish youth international open his scoring account in both league and cup competitions, showing his development is right on track.
Strategic Planning
The contract extension forms part of sporting director Loren Juarros’ roadmap for the club. According to reports, securing Dani Lorenzo’s continuity is the next priority on his list.
With his technical ability, creativity, and excellent reading of the game, Ochoa represents a significant piece of Malaga’s future. At just 18 years old, he has considerable room for growth and will continue to be a key component of the Blanquiazul project in the coming seasons.
