Barça set electoral machinery in motion with committee draws

Barcelona FC has conducted the draw for its Electoral Committee and Electoral Board members, marking the second step in the club's election calendar.

Barcelona’s election process is officially underway as the club conducted the draw for members of both the Electoral Committee and Electoral Board this Tuesday afternoon.

Electoral bodies selected

The draw took place at the Auditori 1899 within the Spotify Camp Nou, following the club’s statutory requirements under articles 44 and 45. The selection was performed via computer system and overseen by:

  • Notary Gerardo Conesa (ensuring legal compliance)
  • Josep Cubells, Secretary of the Board of Directors
  • Ramon Estebe Blanch, the Members’ Ombudsman (Síndic dels Socis)

Both electoral bodies consist of five members each, randomly selected from the club’s membership. Their roles are distinct but crucial:

  • Electoral Committee: Supervises the entire election process up until voting day
  • Electoral Board: Specifically manages and controls procedures on the actual election day

Election timeline

With the presidential election scheduled for March 15th, Barcelona now faces an intense month of institutional activity. This draw represents just the second step in a carefully structured electoral calendar.

The next stage will see both bodies formally constituted over the coming three days. Following that, pre-candidates will be able to request ballot papers beginning this Sunday – the fourth point in the electoral roadmap.

What’s at stake

These elections are absolutely massive for the Catalan giants. With the club still navigating choppy financial waters and the team’s performance under scrutiny, whoever takes the reins will have their work cut out for them.

The coming weeks will see pre-candidates emerge and campaign for one of the most prestigious positions in world football. For the average Barça fan, it’s a proper nail-biter – the future direction of the club hangs in the balance.

The appointment of these electoral bodies ensures the process remains transparent and fair, crucial for maintaining the democratic principles that are the bread and butter of Barcelona’s member-owned structure.
