Inside Madrid's secret squad dinner: Vini and Mbappé foot £1,500 bill at exclusive hideaway

Real Madrid's entire first team gathered for a private bonding meal at one of Madrid's most secretive restaurants, with Vinicius and Mbappé picking up the hefty tab.

The entire Real Madrid squad gathered for a rare team dinner in central Madrid, with every single player in attendance at an ultra-exclusive restaurant known for its privacy and celebrity clientele.

The secret location

The Madrid stars chose restaurant ‘61.’ on José Abascal Street - a proper swanky establishment where privacy is paramount. This isn’t your average Spanish eatery - it’s so exclusive that its social media accounts remain private to protect its high-profile guests, who’ve previously included celebrities like Arón Piper, Ester Expósito and UFC champion Ilia Topuria.

The dinner’s existence only became public knowledge after Vinicius shared a photo taken from the DJ’s position at the venue.

What was on the menu?

The lads tucked into a proper feast featuring:

  • Secret surprise starters (the menu remains confidential until you’re inside)
  • Wagyu beef served as burgers or grilled strips
  • Side dishes including chips, asparagus, mashed potatoes, peppers with egg, and ‘live lettuce’
  • Desserts like ‘Grandma Nelly’s cake’ and cookies with ice cream

Despite the restaurant being known for its cocktails, the players sensibly stuck to non-alcoholic options. Professional standards and all that.

Who footed the bill?

Two of the dressing room heavyweights - Vinicius and Kylian Mbappé - picked up the tab for the entire 24-man squad. The damage? Approximately €74 per head before drinks, totalling around €1,776 (£1,500) plus tips for the staff.

The night’s timeline

Players departed in shifts over nearly four hours:

  • 11pm: The early leavers - Lunin (celebrating his birthday the next day), Rüdiger, Güler and Mendy
  • 11:30pm: Valverde and Militao made their exit
  • Before midnight: Fran García, Mastantuono, Brahim and Gonzalo departed
  • 12am-2am: The majority trickled out, with Vini leaving at 1:26am and Mbappé at 1:32am
  • The night owls: Ceballos left at 1:59am, while Asencio was last to leave at 2:50am (but still reportedly among the first at training the next morning - proper dedication!)

A show of unity

The dinner appears to have been a deliberate show of solidarity at a crucial point in Madrid’s season. The photo shared by Vinicius was meant to demonstrate team unity, with players later commenting that “the team is very united” and that the evening “went very well.”

Seems like the perfect opportunity for the squad to have a proper chinwag and get their season back on the right track. Nothing like breaking bread together to sort things out, as me old nan would say.
