Partey hit with two fresh rape charges in UK nightmare

Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey faces further legal trouble with two additional rape allegations from 2021-2022, bringing total charges to five rape counts plus sexual assault.

Villarreal’s Thomas Partey now faces an escalating legal crisis as two new rape allegations have surfaced against the Ghanaian international according to The Telegraph.

The midfielder’s problems have mounted significantly, with the former Arsenal man now under investigation for a total of five rape charges plus one sexual assault allegation. These fresh accusations reportedly stem from incidents in 2021 and 2022.

Partey, who previously pleaded not guilty at an initial hearing earlier this season, must now appear before Westminster Court in March to address these new charges. The court has scheduled a November date for the original allegations.

Controversial Villarreal signing

The Yellow Submarine’s decision to bring Partey aboard wasn’t without its critics. The club leaned heavily on the presumption of innocence principle when securing his signature, a move that raised more than a few eyebrows among supporters and pundits alike.

While legal proceedings continue, Partey remains on bail with judicial permission to continue his football career - though that’s hardly going swimmingly either.

Struggling on the pitch

The midfielder’s performances for Villarreal have been proper pants since his arrival. His form has been so dire that manager Marcelino recently went public with criticism, suggesting Partey simply isn’t showing the quality required at the top level.

This double whammy of courtroom drama and pitch struggles represents a nightmare scenario for both player and club. What seemed a potentially shrewd acquisition has turned into a proper dog’s dinner both on and off the field.
