Madrid roll on without Mbappé as goals continue to flow
Real Madrid showed no signs of missing their French superstar with another commanding performance at the Bernabéu against Real Sociedad.
Madrid’s goalscoring form continues unabated, with Mbappé’s absence proving no obstacle whatsoever for Los Blancos.
Business as usual at the Bernabéu
All the pre-match chat suggested Madrid might struggle without their French talisman, but those fears were quickly put to bed. The only moment of concern came when young Huijsen conceded a somewhat unnecessary penalty, allowing Real Sociedad to level the scores.
But the Bernabéu faithful barely had time to get their knickers in a twist. Just four minutes later, normal service resumed when Vinícius won a spot-kick (a clear one, too) and stepped up to take it himself.
No Mbappé, no problem
With the Frenchman not on the pitch, there was none of the penalty drama we’ve seen in recent weeks. Vinícius assumed responsibility without question, and the Brazilian made no mistake from 12 yards.
The ease with which Madrid dispatched a decent Sociedad side suggests Carlo Ancelotti’s men are far from a one-man team. The attacking machinery continues to function smoothly even when their star summer signing isn’t available.
Goals flowing freely
This latest goalfest continues an impressive scoring run for the Spanish giants. The attacking trident of Vinícius, Rodrygo and Bellingham has proven more than capable of picking up any slack when needed.
The question now becomes how Ancelotti will balance his embarrassment of riches when everyone is fit. It’s the kind of headache every manager dreams of having.
