Betis faithful paint Son Moix green and white as over 1,000 fans make their presence felt

The Verdiblancos support turned out in force on the island, with local fan clubs and travelling supporters creating a carnival atmosphere at Mallorca's home ground.

More than 1,000 passionate Betis supporters transformed parts of Son Moix into a sea of green and white, creating an electric atmosphere as their team secured a crucial victory that moves them within touching distance of the Champions League places.

Island faithful

Mallorca has long been home to a significant Betis fanbase, with many supporters having settled on the island years ago. This connection is embodied by the ‘Unión Béticos Mallorca’, a dedicated supporters’ club based in Palma that follows the Verdiblancos wherever they play.

The Son Moix turning partially green and white has become something of a tradition whenever Betis come to town. Many local Betis fans are season ticket holders at Mallorca, while others make the journey specifically for the fixture - though this season’s awkward kick-off time made travel more challenging than usual.

Pre-match festivities

The ‘Unión Béticos Mallorca’ organised a proper knees-up for supporters on the island, arranging a Fan Zone at S’Escorxador - a spacious commercial and cultural center in Palma with bars, restaurants and even a supermarket. The schedule was meticulously planned:

  • 2:00 PM - Fan Zone opens
  • 3:00 PM - Gathering of supporters’ clubs
  • 4:00 PM - Start of the ‘Green and White Party’
  • 7:00 PM - The ‘Great Green March’ to Son Moix (a 25-minute walk)

Making themselves heard

The visiting section, which officially holds 697 spectators, was completely rammed, with additional Betis supporters scattered throughout other areas of the stadium. The familiar chants usually heard at La Cartuja echoed around Son Moix throughout the match, reaching a crescendo when the final whistle confirmed Betis’s victory.

The win puts Pellegrini’s men just four points off the Champions League places, while Mallorca’s defeat saw them drop into the relegation zone in what’s turning into a proper dog’s dinner of a relegation scrap. As the Betis anthem rang out across the stadium, it was clear whose day it was - the travelling Béticos had their bread and butter.
