Tevenet sacked as Valladolid slip into relegation zone with Escribá set to take charge

Real Valladolid part ways with Luis García Tevenet after just seven matches in charge, with the club now in the relegation zone after four consecutive defeats.

Valladolid have pulled the trigger on Luis García Tevenet after a disastrous spell that’s left the club staring down the barrel of relegation to the Primera RFEF.

Seven-match nightmare

It’s been an absolute mare for the Sevillian gaffer, who lasted just seven league games at the José Zorrilla. The final nail in the coffin came less than 24 hours after Valladolid were hammered by fellow strugglers Granada, marking their fourth consecutive defeat.

The numbers make for grim reading:

  • Just 4 points from a possible 21
  • 12 goals conceded in the last three matches alone
  • Now sitting in the relegation zone with 16 matches remaining

Tevenet arrived at the tail end of 2025 following Guillermo Almada’s departure to Real Oviedo, but somehow managed to make things even worse. Despite one thumping win away at Ceuta, the team has barely competed under his guidance.

Escribá waiting in the wings

The Pucela aren’t hanging about, with former Granada boss Fran Escribá reportedly in advanced talks to take over the reins. The experienced Valencian coach is well known to Sporting Director Víctor Orta from their time together at Elche.

Escribá brings considerable pedigree, having managed in both La Liga and the second tier, and has been available since his dismissal from Granada last season when he failed to secure a playoff spot.

Valladolid’s situation has become particularly precarious following Huesca’s victory over Ceuta, which pushed the Blanquivioletas into the drop zone with just over a third of the season remaining.

For Tevenet, it’s a case of “on your bike” after what must rank as one of the briefest and least successful managerial stints in the club’s recent history.
