Barça breathe easy: Eric García injury scare proves false alarm

Barcelona defender Eric García has avoided injury despite concerns after being substituted against Girona, with tests confirming no damage to his left leg.

Barcelona and Hansi Flick can finally exhale after medical tests confirmed Eric García hasn’t suffered any injury, despite the worrying scenes during yesterday’s Girona clash.

Injury Scare at Montilivi

When the Spanish defender was hooked in the 73rd minute at Montilivi, alarm bells started ringing across Catalonia. García immediately grabbed the back of his left leg after coming off, even giving the bench a proper whack in frustration before the medical team checked him over. Proper heart-in-mouth stuff for Barça supporters.

This morning’s medical assessment has delivered the goods though - no injury detected. Talk about dodging a bullet!

Rest and Recovery

The timing couldn’t be better for the versatile defender, with Flick giving the squad 48 hours off to reset after a proper stinker of a week:

  • Defeat to Atlético Madrid
  • Another loss against Girona

The mini-break gives García plenty of time to recover before Sunday’s home fixture against Levante at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Mr. Indispensable

Flick will be over the moon with this news considering García has been Barcelona’s most-used player this season. The gaffer clearly can’t get enough of him:

  • Appeared in all 38 matches this campaign
  • Racked up a massive 2,938 minutes of playing time
  • Proven versatility across central defence, full-back and defensive midfield

The 23-year-old has been absolutely crucial to Barça’s system this term, making himself utterly undroppable through consistently solid performances. Having him available is a right result for a team desperately needing to bounce back from consecutive defeats.
