Raphinha slams 'double standards' in refereeing decisions against Barcelona

Brazilian winger Raphinha has taken to social media to express frustration over recent officiating controversies following Barcelona's match against Girona.

Barcelona star Raphinha has publicly called out what he perceives as inconsistent officiating against his club, suggesting there’s one rule for Barça and another for everyone else.

Social Media Outburst

The Brazilian international didn’t hold back on Tuesday when he posted a pointed message on Instagram addressing recent refereeing decisions that have left the Catalan club feeling hard done by.

“It’s very complicated when the rules are different depending on whether they’re in your favour or against you,” Raphinha wrote, clearly frustrated with what he perceives as double standards in officiating.

The winger, who has emerged as one of the leaders in the Barcelona dressing room, added a defiant tone to his message: if Barcelona needs to “play against everyone” to win, then so be it.

Controversial Girona Goal

Raphinha’s comments come in the aftermath of Barcelona’s match against Girona, where controversy erupted over Girona’s second goal. The Brazilian was visibly fuming on the pitch, believing there was a clear foul on Jules Koundé in the build-up that officials failed to penalise.

He wasn’t alone in his assessment. Several Barça players who spoke after the match were in agreement that the French defender had been fouled, with the incident becoming a proper storm in a teacup among the Blaugrana faithful.

United Front

Interestingly, Raphinha’s Instagram post included two carefully chosen images:

  • A black and white photo of himself alone
  • A colour photograph showing the entire team embracing

The visual contrast seems deliberate – perhaps symbolising both his personal frustration and the squad’s unity in the face of what they perceive as unfair treatment.

For Barcelona fans, this public display from one of their captain figures will be seen as someone finally having the bottle to say what many in the Camp Nou have been thinking about recent officiating decisions.
