Tachi set for knee surgery in latest blow to Zaragoza's injury-ravaged season

Real Zaragoza defender Tachi faces two months on the sidelines after the club confirmed he requires surgery on a meniscus injury in his left knee.

The injury troubles that have plagued Real Zaragoza all season show no signs of letting up as defender Tachi becomes the latest casualty requiring surgical intervention.

Knee surgery confirmed

What started as knee discomfort for the versatile Tachi has unfortunately developed into something far more serious. Real Zaragoza released a statement confirming the defender has suffered a meniscus injury to his left knee and will need to go under the knife.

The club announced: “The player will undergo surgery this Friday at Hospital Universitario Quirónsalud Zaragoza by specialists from Grupo Arthrosport and will begin his recovery process.”

This latest setback means Tachi is expected to be sidelined for at least two months, potentially returning only for the final stretch of the season. It’s proper bad news for a Zaragoza side that’s been absolutely hammered by injuries this term.

Terrible timing

The timing couldn’t be worse for both player and club. Tachi had finally worked his way back into a more prominent role in recent weeks, starting four of Zaragoza’s last eight matches. His absence leaves manager Víctor Fernández Sellés with yet another selection headache in defense.

What makes this particularly painful is Tachi’s versatility had been proving valuable to the team. Beyond his natural defensive position, Sellés had also been utilizing him in a defensive midfield role, giving the squad tactical flexibility they’ll now have to do without.

Mounting injury crisis

Tachi joins an increasingly crowded treatment room at Real Zaragoza, with the squad being stretched thinner with each passing week. For a team battling in the competitive Segunda División, these continued absences could prove decisive in their campaign.

The club will be desperate to navigate the next couple of months without their versatile defender and hope he can make a swift recovery in time to contribute to what could be a crucial final phase of the season.
