Prestianni Likes Instagram Post Criticising Teammate for Asking Vinicius for His Shirt
Real Madrid vs Benfica fallout continues as Prestianni likes a post slamming his own teammate Lopes Cabral for swapping shirts with Vinicius.
The Prestianni saga just keeps on giving — and this time it’s a rogue Instagram like that’s got everyone talking.
The Shirt Swap That Went Viral
After the second leg between Real Madrid and Benfica at the Bernabéu, Benfica’s Lopes Cabral approached Vinicius Jr on the pitch to swap shirts. Pretty standard stuff in football, you might think. Except the context here made it anything but.
Remember, this was the same week that Vinicius had been at the centre of a massive racism storm involving Prestianni — Benfica’s Argentine winger who was serving a UEFA suspension for allegedly directing a racist insult at the Brazilian during the first leg. Benfica appealed, UEFA’s Appeals Committee knocked it back, and Prestianni watched the return fixture from the stands.
So when pictures of Lopes Cabral cheerfully swapping shirts with Vinicius started doing the rounds on social media, a chunk of the Benfica fanbase was not best pleased.
The Instagram Post That Lit the Fuse
A Benfica fan account called portalbenfiquista_ posted their frustration in no uncertain terms, essentially saying:
- Their club had spent a week being dragged through the mud over the Vinicius racism allegations
- Lopes Cabral’s first move after the final whistle was to go and ask the bloke at the centre of it all for his shirt
- The optics, to put it mildly, were terrible
The comments section filled up with Benfica supporters venting their feelings about the whole thing. Standard stuff for football Twitter — or Instagram, in this case.
Where Prestianni Comes In
Here’s where it gets a bit mad. Prestianni — the very player suspended for his alleged behaviour towards Vinicius — went and liked that post. The one calling out his own teammate.
Now, whether it was a slip of the thumb, a moment of genuine agreement, or something else entirely, we can’t say for certain. But in the current climate, with UEFA investigations ongoing and the whole affair still very much in the news, it’s the kind of thing that was never going to go unnoticed.
The Bigger Picture
Prestianni had actually made the trip to Madrid with the squad and trained on the Bernabéu pitch ahead of the match — he just couldn’t play. UEFA’s temporary ban held firm after the appeal was dismissed, keeping him out of one of the biggest nights in Benfica’s recent Champions League run.
The like has since gone viral, adding yet another chapter to what’s already been a proper soap opera of a tie. Whatever your read on the situation, Prestianni’s social media activity isn’t exactly helping him keep a low profile right now.
